Neck pain is one of the most common reasons patients seek chiropractic care and this is not only for the adults. There is a recent study from the Journal of the Canadian Chiropractic Association about a neck pain in children and their result after

receiving a chiropractic care.

There are total of fifty patients, both male and female in equal distribution and the age ranged between 6 and 18 years old. The majority of them showed with sudden neck pain after a minor injury and more than half (58%) reported headaches as an associated symptom (many times headache can be caused by a mechanical neck problem). Also, 10% of the patients reported with chronic neck pain. Most of the patients presented with decrease in neck range of motion due to spinal joint restriction and muscle spasm/tenderness. Only one patient presented with minor neurological problems, such as numbness and radiating pain.

Chiropractic adjustment were performed to all patients at their cervical spine. The most common adjunctive therapy was a soft tissue therapy (e.g. trigger point therapy). According to the study over 96% showed significant improvement and no adverse reaction from all patients. On average patient received chiropractic care 5 times over the course of 19 days.

Among many other studies regarding pediatric chiropractic care for msuculoskeletal condition, this recent study reemphasizes that chiropractic care was successful in managing musculoskeletal neck pain with minimal risk.
