Regular chiropractic care is more than just care to relieve pain

Chiropractic treatment focuses on the neuromusculoskeletal (NMS) system which is a complete system of the nerves, bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. The goal is to enhance the NMS function of our body so that we can function and move properly and efficiently.

Subluxation (e.g. biomechanical stress) interfering with the nervous system

My philosophy and mission as a chiropractic physician are to improve the quality of life of my patients by providing regular chiropractic care. This concept of receiving regular chiropractic care may be unfamiliar for those with no major symptoms or areas of pain.

Chiropractic care is an excellent choice for pain relief, especially ones with the neuromusculoskeletal related symptoms. However, the primary goal for everyone should not stop at this stage of pain relief. Pain is just a sign of dysfunction and its location may be unrelated to the true cause. It is important to find the true source of the cause to prevent it from happening repeatedly. Additionally, any faulty movement patterns of our body can eventually cause pain and other symptoms even though you do not have any current symptoms. As a result, it is important to identify and correct this "painless" dysfunction as well.

There are three phases of chiropractic care:1) Initial pain relief care, 2) Corrective care and 3) Wellness care.

1) Initial Care: During this initial phase, we focus on improving your initial symptoms. However, this does not mean you are fully healed yet. Just like you do not take off the cast of your broken arm after a few days because it feels better, it takes your body a few months to fully heal. Your spinal and nervous system care is the same. Symptoms are only the tip of the iceberg.

2) Corrective Care: After relieving the initial symptoms, we focus further on finding the cause of the problem and promoting further healing. This is similar to getting braces to correct your dental misalignment. It does not happen in a couple of days or weeks. Your whole body takes time, work and effort to achieve a state of well-being.

3) Wellness Care: This phase is important to maintain any corrections made from the previous care phases. It is similar to using a retainer on to retain your dental alignment/function. And what do you do to prevent tooth decay? You brush your teeth, floss and get regular check-ups. Chiropractic wellness care is similar and receiving once or twice a month is vital to maintain your well-being and prevent spinal "decay". Wellness care is highly recommended especially for children because it is a non-invasive treatment that prevents injuries and problems rather than fixing a damaged spine. Wellness care will not only help maintain your body to feel better but will also help you function more optimally.

Regular chiropractic care is more than just care to relieve pain. It is an important and essential part of maintaining your health to prevent spinal decay and predisposition to a variety of ailments and diseases.
